Chester le Street claimed all three points from a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bedlington Terriers. The first half was dominated by Bedlington. After 8 minutes, Bedlington broke down the left and the ball was crossed to Scott Lowery on the edge of the area but his good shot brought a good save from Jack Wilson. After 16 minutes, the ball was crossed over from the right to Zak Atkinson who headed down to Lowery but his shot went straight to Wilson. Two minutes later, Stephen Young broke down the left and cut in to fire ion a shot which brought another good save from Wilson. After 26 minutes, Paul Wardle played the ball into the middle and it was quickly played on to Kyle Dobson who hit a powerful drive towards goal and again, Wilson was forced to make a great save. After 39 minutes, A ball into the area found Peter Henderson but Wilson was quickly out to make a good block. Chester could consider themselves rather fortunate not to be behind at the interval. What a turn around in the second half ! After 48 minutes, a good ball down the right set Dominic Laws racing through. He hit a good cross to the far side but David Surrey saw his header go just over the bar. After 52 minutes, Craig Marron fired in a shot from outside the area with keeper Jak Wells doing well to tip the ball over the bar. After 54 minutes Alex White drove a free kick towards the top corner but Wells made another great save. After 57 minutes, a ball over from the right found Surrey but his first-time volley went straight to Wells. Bedlington made a rare attack after 62 minutes and when the ball was crossed into the middle Stephen Young headed just past the post. After 72 minutes, Chester made a break down the right and the ball was played o Alex White in the middle but he rushed his shot and fired well wide. Bedlington launched an immediate attack and the defence was caught out by a long ball though the middle which found Young but he curled his shot just wide of the far post. Chester made the breakthrough after 77 minutes when a ball into the middle found Dominic Laws and although his shot was blocked, it fell to Daniel McGuire and he fired home. After 82 minutes Bedlington broke down the right and the cross into the middle found Lowery. He headed down towards goal and the ball was heading for the top corner before Wilson produced another great save. Definitely a game of two halves but a great victory never-the-less.
