Chester le Street’s unbeaten run came to an end after they suffered a comprehensive 4-0 defeat at home to Blyth AFC. Blyth came close to taking the lead after 6 minutes when they made a quick break down the left and the ball was played inside to Robert Taylor but his shot curled just wide of the target. Blyth took the lead after 11 minutes when Michael Chilton was left unmarked to head in from a corner. After 15 minutes, the ball over from the right found Taylor in space but his shot came back off the post. Blyth doubled their lead after 17 minutes. They made a quick break down the right and the ball was crossed over to the right to Sean McRoberts and he curled a great shot into the top corner. After 21 minutes, a poor clearance from Wilson only found Taylor 30 yards out. He fired in a good shot which brought a great save from Wilson. Chester played better in the second half without troubling their keeper. Blyth extended their lead after 71 minutes when the ball was played into the middle from the right and Chilton ran in to fire home. Blyth completed the scoring in stoppage time when the ball was played into Cameron Fenton in the middle and although he was challenged by Wilson the ball broke free to find the net. A disappointing result but Blyth turned in probably the best display we have faced this season.
