Chester improved their performance in the second half. After 46 minutes, the ball was played down the right to Alex White. He turned back to cross towards the far post for Kieran Megran to run in but he just failed to make contact with the ball. A long ball was played through the middle for Martin to chase but Jack Wilson was quickly off the line to gather the ball before Martin could get away a shot. Northallerton looked certain to take the lead after 74 minutes when a ball over from the left found Martin in space but before he could turn the ball into the net, he was stopped by a great tackle from Connor Lyon.
