Chester le Street Town crashed to a 5-1 defeat at home to Marske United. After 14 minutes Daniel Earl was played clear down the left and as keeper Jack Wilson rushed out from goal, Earl slipped the ball past him but it rebounded off the far post back into Wilson’s hands. Chester le Street took the lead after 20 minutes with a well-worked goal. Jack Honour played the ball inside a defender to Joe Hailes who raced forwards to hit a low cross into the middle for Dominic Laws to turn in from close range. After 35 minutes, a Chester le Street attack broke down and Marske made a quick break. A long ball was played over to Curtis Round on the left and his cross was fired in by Daniel Earl. Marske took the lead inside the first minute of the second half when Earl made a break down the left and although Andrew Grant-Soulsby blocked his cross into the middle, Round fired in the rebound. Marske extended their lead after 67 minutes when a long throw into the Chester le Street area was flicked on and Earl scored a fine goal with an overhead kick. After 69 minutes, Kieran Megran fired in a free kick which was headed clear by Adam Wheatley. The ball fell to Christopher Stephenson who hit a first-time shot which keeper Robert Dean tipped over the bar. The corner found Jack Honour but his shot brought a great save from Dean. After 71 minutes a ball into the middle found the unmarked Glen Butterworth and he was left with a simple tap-in. After 77 minutes, Michael Hepplewhite played a free kick into the area and Danny Hepplewhite fired in a good header which brought another good save from Dean. Marske completed the scoring after 82 minutes when a ball down the right set Peter Bulmer free and he raced into the area to fire a shot across goal into the far corner.
