Chester went down 4-2 at Jarrow Roofing. Chester created the first opening after 6 minutes when the ball was played out right to Dominic Laws who fired in a shot which was saved by keeper Lewis Brass. After 9 minutes, Roofing made a quick break down the right and the ball was played into Bradley Varga who turned well on the edge of the area to curl in a shot which went just over the bar. After 12 minutes, Laws was played down the right. He raced to the by-line and crossed into the middle for Jack Honour to fire in a shot which went just over the bar. After 14 minutes a long throw by Christopher Winn found Calvin Smith but his shot brought a good save from Jack Wilson. Roofing came close to taking the lead after 23 minutes when Lee Kerr fired in a long-range shot which bounced in front of Wilson but he did well to turn the ball for a corner. However, from the corner, Paul Chow was left unmarked and he headed in from close range. Chester restored parity after 28 minutes when the ball was played into the area to Lee Mole. His shot was blocked but Joseph Hailes was quickest to react and fire the ball into the roof of the net. Chester came close to taking the lead after 38 minutes. A corner from the left was met by Danny Hepplewhite but his downwards header was cleared at the foot of the post by David Marshall. Roofing regained the lead after 49 minutes. A corner from the right was headed back into the middle by Daniel Kirkup and Anthony Myers turned the ball in. Roofing increased their lead after 72 minutes when they made a quick break with Kerr playing the ball right to Smith and his pass inside found Dennis Knight who fired a great shot into the far corner. Shortly afterwards, Roofing extended their lead when a corner from the right was played over to the far side and Smith hit a good first-time shot into the net. Chester pulled a goal back in stoppage time when Alex Whit hit a free kick into the area which was headed in by Laws. Another disappointing result from a decent performance. In truth there was not a lot between the sides but they took their last two chances well.
