Chester le Street Town moved off the bottom of the table after a well-deserved 4-2 win at Sunderland Ryhope CW. They took the lead after 11 minutes when David Surrey played a good ball through to Lee Mole on the edge of the area and he quickly played it through to Daniel McGuire and he fired into the net. After 14 minutes, a long ball set Dominic Laws clear but keeper Antony Lowerson made a good save from his attempted lob. After 43 minutes Laws crossed into the middle but Mole saw his header hit Danni Lay. Ryhope equalised on the stroke of half-time when Thomas Bott fired in a great strike from 25 yards giving Jack Wilson no chance as it flew into the top corner of the net. After 50 minutes, Mole went down the left and hit a low cross into the middle, which was heading for Laws but Bott made a good interception to clear the danger. Chester regained the lead after 57 minutes when a good passing move saw the ball played through for Laws to hit a good, low shot past the keeper. Two minutes later, Mole fired a free kick from 25 yards over the wall but Lowerson made a comfortable save. Chester quickly regained possession and the ball was played through to Laws who made another good finish to extend Chester’s lead. After 66 minutes, the ball was played over from the right to James Ellis and although he failed to make a good contact with the ball, keeper Jack Wilson still had to make a good save. Ryhope reduced the deficit after 69 minutes when a corner was played in from the right and Kyle Davis ran in to power a header into the net. Ryhope came close to levelling after 76 minutes when a corner from the left was played to Josh Home-Jackson at the near post. He lifted the ball towards the far post but Christopher Stephenson cleared the ball off the line. After 81 minutes, James Ellis made a good run down the right and crossed the ball to Home-Jackson but his shot went straight to Wilson. The following minute, Chester made a quick break with Laws racing down the right and crossing to Jack Honour but his shot brought a good block by Lay. After 85 minutes, Ellis cut in from the left to fire in a shot which brought a good save, low down by Wilson. The result was sealed in the last minute in Chester le Street’s favour, when Ryhope failed to clear the ball, Mole won possession to race into the area and square the ball for Laws to complete his hat-trick. In stoppage time, Joseph Hailes raced down the left to fire in a shot which the keeper did well to turn over the bar. A great ninety-minute performance brought a fully deserved result.
