Chester turned in another poor display to lose 1-0 at home to Billingham Synthonia. Synners made the breakthrough after 10 minutes when a corner was played in from the left and Ben Pollock was left unchallenged as he flicked a header into the net. After 17 minutes, Synners plated a corner from the right to Daniel Boyle on the edge of the area but his shot was blocked and the ball scrambled clear.
Chester le Street’s first chance came after 21 minutes when Owen Henderson broke clear down the right and crossed the ball to Luke Collins on the edge of the area but his shot brought a good save from keeper, Tom Orton. After 30 minutes, Daniel Hepplewhite lost possession just outside the area and the ball was crossed into the area to the unmarked Brandon Slater but Maximiliano Coombes made a good block. After 37 minutes Chester were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area and Collins struck the ball well but Orton made another good save at full stretch. On the stroke of half-time. Alex Bruton set Boyle clear but he pulled his shot wide of the post. After 48 minutes, the ball was moved to Slater who raced into the area but his shot brought another good block from Coombes. Synners came close to doubling their lead after 61 minutes when a cross from the right found Liam Travers but his looped header went over Coombes and clipped the top of the bar. Chester created a good chance which should have brought an equaliser when Henderson’s cross found Jack Brown but he blasted the ball well over the bar from a good position. After 80 minutes Henderson made another good run down the right but his cross rebounded back off the bar and the ball was cleared. After 83 minutes, Slater played the ball into Travers in the middle and he turned the ball towards the top corner but Coombes
made a great save to tip the ball over the bar. After 89 minutes Boyle found some space to fire in a shot which Coombes saved low down to his left. Chester ended the game with ten men after Kevin Dixon was red-carded following a tackle on him and the two players clashed. A disappointing result but it could have been by a much
